Welcome to walking in Lake Bled

  • Slovenia's most scenic walks - with plenty on the side
  • Hikes, boat trips, castle visits, and legendary cream cake
  • Perfect for leisurely strollers, families, and old romantics
Combining laidback walks, castle views, and epic Julian Alps hikes, Lake Bled walking holidays were made for those wanting to soak in the scenery.
Start with the iconic 6km lake loop — with castle views, lakeside swim spots, and plenty of cosy cafés serving up slices of kremšnita cream cake.
From here, leisure-seekers can walk or take a bus to the Vintgar Gorge to take in the turquoise Radovna River from elevated wooden walkways.
Meanwhile, experienced hikers can head into Slovenia's Julian Alps for steep elevation gains up Ojstrica, Mala Osojnica, and Velika Osojnica, or venture into the Triglav National Park trail network for more ambitious day routes.

How to get around Lake Bled

How our self-guided Lake Bled walking holidays work:

Our self-guided trips let you set your own pace, from the length of your stay, to how far you walk each day. But if you’re used to group or guided holidays, you might be wondering how you’ll get around? Well, it’s easy…

Getting to and around town:

Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you'll find Bled to be a compact, walkable town with everything you need within easy reach. Free buses run around the lake and villages, and traditional pletna boats ferry visitors across to the island for day trips - oars not required!

Getting to your walks and hikes:

The Straza chairlift is a short walk from town - hop on for panoramic views, lakeside hikes, and a toboggan run back down to the resort.
Outside of Bled, regular buses connect to Ljubljana, Lake Bohinj, and the Vintgar Gorge - handy if you’d rather save your legs for the trails.
